Association of people HOPDN is firstly concerning with helping to mentally sick patients to defend them their basic human rights and helping them with their social problems. Unfortunately our legal systém does not ensure to patients their basic rights, what is against to our constitution. Mentally sick patient may be hospitalized against his will without possibility of defending against that. Mentally sick patient may loose his ability to act in law without knowing about it. Mentally sick patient may be treated with not suitable medicaments without chance of protesting against it. Against this breaking of the basic human rights of the mentally sick patient, which are guaranteed by the constitution, but which really does not exist, HOPDN is trying to fight by all the possible means. HOPDN is nowadays probably only the organization of this type in the Czech republic. Our means are firstly showing this situation and drawing the attention of the public. Above all we showed to experts that in democratic society can also the client of psychiatric treatment effective defend against wrongdoing and probably we first cast doubt on today's ways of treating, especially in the issue social ang legal. We first started to criticize experts who were taboo (and that is more sad for them that it is by their former clients). Their most often diagnose paranoid schizophrenia, was given together with former practices of the catholic church, according to every rebellion and casting doubt on their authority was called heretic. It is conspicuous similarity which does not differ so much from the medieval practices. Only instead of the right of suffer when the church helped to an unfortunate to eject the devil from the body, today our psychiatric experts want to treat the wandering thinking. Essentially behind all these practices medieval or today's is just to keep the power at all costs, what is endangered by doubts and complaints. HOPDN thinks that today's psychiatric treatment should revalued. In our opinion not all the psychiatric experts are bad, but sometimes they are rather silent when they see falseness because they have fear from their liquidation. The problem is that there are still few of people who are not afraid to ctiticise today's system of psychiatric institutions and system. The endowments and sponsors who we ask for money have doubts about our success. We are optimists and we thanks to all who believe us.
